FINDING A VOICE IN GOD
My name is Faith and I’m a junior here at Texas State University. I’m majoring in accounting and desire to work at an accounting firm or for a school district one day. I have been a member of the UCM for almost two years! I have the wonderful position of being an event coordinator for the organization Student Volunteer Connection. In my free time I love bike riding, painting, reading, and watching documentaries.
FINDING A VOICE IN GOD
But Moses said to the LORD, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” Then the LORD said to him, “Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak." Exodus 4:10-12
Growing up, I was always the sweet shy girl who didn’t say much unless someone asked me a question. I didn’t want to say the wrong words therefore I kept quiet and held everything I wanted to say inside. As one could imagine, anything to do with public speaking was not my cup of tea. Many people around me such as friends and even teachers encouraged me to speak up because what I had to say mattered and meant something.
In college, I’ve started to speak up more and really get my thoughts out. I’ve learned my words are valuable and can help and encourage others in some way. I know that being shy is a nice comfort zone to park in, but I encourage those of y’all who are shy to slowly start speaking out. Your words matter and speaking up can even teach you a little something about yourself.
The Bible verse from Exodus remind me that even though we sometimes doubt ourselves and what we can accomplish, God can make our worries go away and show us how strong and powerful we really are.
Prayer: God, thank you for the all You have given me this far in my life. Help me to speak faithfully. Continue to give me courage to share my insights with others to build them up in Your love. Thank you most of all for your son Jesus Christ, the Word of God. Amen.
