Christian Formation in Apostleship among Generation Z in post-Christendom America
Apostleship is a major theme of the New Testament. It is particularly well suited to meet the cultural and ecclesiological landscape of post-Christendom America. This paper offers apostleship as a robust practical theology for Christian formation with Generation Z in post-Christendom America.
Apostleship offers a corrective balance to an overemphasis on discipleship. The term ‘apostleship’ provides needed practical ministry language that incorporates apostolic mission, sanctification, holiness, and vocation as an essential part of Christian formation in the fullness of God’s grace in the Methodist tradition.
This result is a six-session “Apostolos Young Adult Vocational Cohort” to help college student respond to God’s work in their lives and their surrounding communities.
